A wallet and a proof of personhood

World App is a mobile application from Tools for Humanity that combines two ideas: a self-custody crypto wallet, and a World ID that lets you prove you are a unique human without handing over your name, documents or face to every service that asks.

The provider describes World App as available in more than 150 countries. Availability of specific features, assets and campaigns is narrower than that headline and changes over time, so check the app and the provider’s own terms for your country.

Your referral link

The invitation we were given is a referral link. Opening it starts the provider’s own install flow, and the referral is recorded by the provider rather than by us. We do not operate the invitation system and cannot see or amend your account.

Treat any promised grant as unconfirmed until it is visible in the provider’s own interface. Country restrictions, identity-verification requirements, campaign end dates and new-user rules all apply, and the provider can change them.

What the app actually holds

• A wallet: you hold the keys, so you are the only party who can authorise a transaction. That is also the risk: there is no support desk that can reverse a transfer or restore a key you lost.
• A World ID: a credential tied to a verification event. The design goal is to prove uniqueness and humanity without revealing who you are.
• Mini Apps: small third-party applications inside World App. Each has its own operator and its own terms, so judge them separately from the wallet itself.

Before you install

1. Read the provider’s terms and privacy policy rather than a summary, including how verification data is handled in your country.
2. Set up recovery before depositing anything. Confirm which device and which backup now protect the wallet.
3. Start small. Send a small amount, confirm it arrives, and only then decide whether to trust the app with more.
4. Expect transfer fees where a transaction is not subsidised. Any “gas-free” arrangement is a provider policy that can change, not a property of a wallet.
5. Check whether you owe tax on digital-asset activity where you live. Tracking your own history is far easier from day one.

The risks, stated plainly

Crypto assets are volatile and unregulated in many jurisdictions. A self-custodial wallet means mistakes are usually final: a wrong address, a lost key or a compromised phone can mean permanent loss. Verification programmes and token distributions are commercial campaigns, not entitlements, and past distributions are not evidence of future ones.
